hello Persian patient

Hello Persian patient,

the other guy from a squid mailing list forum told me its because I did not authorize permission for the squid running user to run squidguard, that why I have such problem. below is what I got that errored me.

I inserted the line redirect_program /usr/bin/squidguard in the squid.conf file.

then I typed squid -k reconfigure
and the outcome came out as: Aborted

when I tried to service squid restart the following output came out:

[root@matrix squid]# service squid restart
Stopping squid: /etc/init.d/squid: line 82: 4924 Aborted $SQUID -k check >>/var/log/squid/squid.out 2>&1
[FAILED]
Starting squid: /etc/init.d/squid: line 53: 4925 Aborted $SQUID $SQUID_OPTS >>/var/log/squid/squid.out 2>&1
[FAILED]

and inside the log file squid.out in /var/log/squid the following output came out:
FATAL: redirect_program /usr/bin/squidguard: (13) Permission denied
Squid Cache (Version 2.5.STABLE6): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.015 seconds = 0.009 user + 0.006 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 0
FATAL: redirect_program /usr/bin/squidguard: (13) Permission denied

Squid Cache (Version 2.5.STABLE6): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.014 seconds = 0.009 user + 0.005 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 0

The guy is pretty nice in that forum, however after I got his reply and tried to followed the advice he gave, another problem ran into me. I couldn't even service squid start now. I may try to uninstall and install squid and squidguard again.

Persian patient you still there?

Hello Persian Patient,

Have you got your squidguard working? Actually I just got it working yesterday.....after I changed to use the distribution source squid.

anyway, if you need help, I can show you my configuration. I am not good at squid and guard but you can copy exactly what I did and it should work. Maybe you already got it work actually hahaha, sorry for my late reply.

Hi,

Which part did you get to in configuration? Do you have the squidguard.log generating anything? such as error messages?

Hi People,

This is my first time. My problem is: anytime I issue the command "make", using ubuntu Linux, I get the error message "No rule to make target"
What do I do?
