yo. what kind of Linux box is it? tell us that and someone with some expertise can probably give you exact instructions. in the meantime, coulda found these places via Google that might help out: =]

a little SNMP Linux tutorial for beginners:
http://www.midcoast.com/~jp/snmp.html

list of all the tools and resources for SNMP configuration under Linux:
http://linas.org/linux/NMS.html

giant hub of binaries and information downloads on Linux SNMP:
http://www.topology.org/comms/snmp.html

configuration instructions for Red Hat:
http://manageengine.adventnet.com/pr...nmp_linux.html

with that last one you can see what needs doing and modify it for whatever distro you're using. but give us more info bro, so we can give you exactly what you need =]

okay, make sure everything is installed and updated first, then use the steps in that last link to do the basic configuration.

after that, you're gonna need to edit the /etc/snmpd.conf file to configure it. i've never done that before, so i can't tell you exactly what you need to put in it, but it has its own man page with all the stuff you need to know.

or if you're really lazy there's a man page for it here: http://www.tamos.net/guide/manpages/...pd.conf.5.html
