SMS program

I used to have a rather strange program for windows that would dial a SMS centre via ISDN and then send a message. The messages it sent would appear on the phone as being sent from the SMS centre itself. I did find a similar program for linux once but it must be years old and i never got it to work. is there any programs for linux that do the same thing?

i looked around and all i could find were things that used TCP. i also remember it has a txt file full of operators & their sms centre numbers and i couldnt find any that had that.
