smp intel64 kernel help

Hi

I am running 2 x 3.2 duel intel xeons and installed ubuntu breezy.
So far I have setup 2 x 200gig raid 1 useing software when i installed ubuntu and this works fine.I have all so installed squid and set this up and this also works fine.

But I am useing an amd64 kernel that came on the cd so I am only useing one cpu.

I have installed a intel smp 64 kernel with help form a freind.
I can boot it and it works but I then loose network and my raid 1.

I am not sure what to do, I am still new to this.
Thanks

While configuring the new kernel, you may have overlooked the network and raid modules.

To see what you have/have not, from a console, do 'locate .config'. Look for something in /usr/src/<kernel version>. .config is a hidden text file which shows all your selections during configuration. Look for the network and raid portions.
