you could reinstall smb4k as root....or
#chown root filename (change ownership, if root doesnt already own it of course)
# chmod 4755 filename
# ls -l
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root nobody 49358 Oct 7 14:39 filename

as and allowing programs to be suid root is generally a NOT so hot idea... (smb4k is not SUID on my system, nor should it be on yours i dont think. However smbmnt and smbumount should be SUID -but thats all part of your samba install)
