SMB problem
Hi all.. I am using Suse 9.1 and I love it. The problem is I would like to share a network printer that is on a Windows server. I have setup a share folder on the server and one on my laptop as a test. In smb, I can connect to my laptop share fine, but when I try to connect to the share on my windows server it prompts me for a username and password. When I put the correct username and password in and hit connect, it tells my my protocal die unexpectly.
Like I said, I can connect to my laptop fine via smb just not my server. Does smb treat Windows Server differently then Windows XP shares? I have tried everything and do not understand what I am missing.. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again for being a great forum. That is one of the main reasons i want to switch to linux, everyone is here to help. |
Xp and server act almost the same with respect to samba.
The username and password for samba should match the username and pass for windows server. |
Hi .. The username and password I am supplying for SMB is the same for the Windows server and I am still getting the protocal died unexpectly... Anyother Ideas?
Thanks |
Hi... I changed the username and pass to something different and I can now see the printer, but every time I try to configure the printer... The Cups hangs and does not respond. Could this be a router problem? Network issue instead of a program issue? Just wondering... Thanks for all your help guys:newbie:
