Slim down Kaffeine

Im running FEISTY GNOME but I prefer KAFFEINE to TOTEM. Since it has much better subtitle support. It takes guite some time for the first time launch of KAFFEINE per session since it has to load all of the KDE-CORE libs. So I was wondering if I would compile KAFFEINE myself and use certain options(which??) so it would not load so much KDE libraries since I only use KAFFEINE for watching DIVX/XVID movies on my HDD.

I doubt that recompiling in this instance would solve the slow startup issues because the options available when you compile it yourself are for certain features but not the dependency on KDE libraries.

So ares there any other things I could do to speed up KAFFEINE startup in GNOME?

I really doubt it, unless there is some way to preload the KDE libraries. An alternative would be to install totem-xine (not the totem that relies on gstreamer) because it supports the same files as Kaffeine but integrates well with GNOME.

but totem still doesn't support adding subtitles. In totem U can only add subtitle if its the same name as the movie

A really cheesy way to preload KDE libraries is to run some other KDE application--like kwrite or konsole or KDE's solitaire game. Leave it running in a different workspace, and you'll never notice it's there.
