Slackware and Apache

Hi,I have Slackware 9.0 , and I would like know if I have Apache intalled in my Linux box? and how can I start it?

cd into your /var/log/packages directory and see if apache is listed there. If so its installed. Most of the time apache comes installed by default unless you do a custom install and leave it out of installation, etc.

Thanks for your reply, I saw in /var/log/packages directory and I have installed apache-1.3.27-i386-2, but how can I run it? I tried with
simple commands such as "apachectl start" and "apachectl stop", but doesnt works.

Make sure that command is in your path. Any errors and are you root when attempting to run it? Before actually running it, you probably want to actually configure it to your needs by editing the httpd.conf file in /etc/apache

Also it might already be running if you installed it by default.

ps -aux | grep httpd
