Slackware 9.1 with Thunderbird 0.5

I used Thunderbird 0.5 on XP for quite a long time and it work excellent for me.
Recently I gave up Windoze and went to Slackware 9.1 and tried Thunderbird again.
It work ok when I log on as root (imported my mail, a.s.o.), but, on other users, it starts, asks me about accounts and stuff, then shuts down.
Any ideas?

you might havent gave normal users network access.

Is there an error log you can sift through.?

Sorry, no error log (at least none that I know of)
But, with the user saf I can do all the other net stuff just ok.
And this user is member of root, so it should have a lot of rights.
