Skype without Pulseaudio (using 4.2 instead of 4.3)
So everybody knows pulseaudio is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
There used to be a dynamic version of Skype and everybody was happy downloading and running it until Microsoft said: "4.2 no more" and suddenly 4.2 could not connect anymore. And they came with the wonderful 4.3 + pulseaudio. The important stuff: If you want to keep using the dynamic 4.2 version you should just download it: http://download.skaip.su/skype/linux...2.0.13.tar.bz2 (available at http://www.skaip.su/2014/01/skype-4-...lya-linux.html) and edit the binary (skype) replacing the string: "4.2.0.13" with "4.3.0.37". And that's it! you're ready to run your dynamic "4.3" version. The credits for: ScreamerX |
I think the best bet is zerouno's package. It works for multilib and non-multilib systems and it's available at:
http://repository.slacky.eu/slackwar...network/skype/ It's the actual 4.3 version and it is shipped in the form of an all-in-one package (with pulseaudio included). |
