Skype 2.2 (Beta) Webcam Devices Not Found.

Hi there,

My webcam is a Logitech Quickcam Messenger and is listed as /dev/video0 on my system. The devices is recognised by and works fine with aMSN and xawtv, but on Skype, when I go to Options->Video Devices, the "Select Webcam" dropdown just says "No devices found."

I'm running Gentoo 2008 and my kernel is 2.6.32-gentoo-r6.

Have you got 'Enable Skype video' set?

2 approaches quickly:

1. Try ldd /usr/bin/skype |grep found - should return nothing. Anything mentioned is a missing lib
2. Find the appropriate kernel modiule for your camera and make sure it's loaded.

try this in a terminal

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
