Simple Tar Question

How do I make a tarball of a folder without having the whole path tar'd as well?

i currently do this

tar -cvzf /var/www/config.backup /var/www/bu/*

when i untar it into a directory it makes /var and www/ folders in the extraction

hi
maybe u can go to the directory
/var/www
and then compress ur directory bu
