simple question about choice of windows managers
Hi,
I've got Fluxbox configured to my liking... and although I love how it looks... I really do need something that is windows explorer-like, simply because I do a lot of developing and I'm always changing directories (so much that doing it from the command line is a pain). So, I'm wondering if I can still get transparent menus and windows under another manager, but still have the flexibility of having a file browser like in Gnome? (or perhaps there is a file browser compatible with fluxbox? i just thought of that as I was typing so I will do some searching... first question still stands though) Cheers. |
I'm not that familiar with fluxbox but I often use the character based MC (Midnight Commander) file manager for such (plus it has a builtin text editor) handy!

FWIW i use fluxbox and when i start it i also start
kdeinit & then i put an entry in the menu /usr/bin/konqueror --profile filemanagement i don't use it alot but i think it does what you said without messing up your fluxbox |
