Simple fast image editor?

Hi, I'm looking for a simple image editor where you can import images to make some kind of "collage". I don't like gimp's interface (I like just 1 window) and it's a bit overkill for me (quite complex!). It should run quite fast too, I prefer not too use gtk2 or kde apps.

any suggestions?

xpaint is very difficult to work with multiple images. My brother tried for half an hour but it never got right. And it seems to have multiple windows.

any other suggestions?

Imagemagick is really a good program for Images.
You can editor the images by the command "convert", grab the image of your screen by the command "import" and scan the images by the command "display".
I really wanna say it's really very strong and easy of use.

Yea I use imagemagick for image conversions, etc.
But I think there's not much gui in imagemagick, or is there?

gui? maybe you should be familiar with it by some manual.
It is so convenient to control and edit the image file but most of them are hot key mode.
For example, you wanna see all of the pictures in your image directory:
Code:
#display image/*
and then press "space" will be next. Also the key "<"(means "Shift+," in your keyboard) would magnify the image and ">" is the opposition. And the command "convert" still have many functions.
Check the manual from the official web site of Imagemagick then you will get more useful things.

Well I like imagemagick a lot but I'm more looking for something that my little brother can use. So it has to have menus and buttons etc. xfig looks good for working with multiple images, xpaint looks good to just draw a bit.
