Hello Friends,
my name is Raji,I'm writing his mail from Indiana state university,I got a problem with Silicon graphics o2 system. my prof. gave me this system saying that is an 1996 system make some use for it for the present time. I have planed and thought of making its an neural network frame. but the sio2 system was set up with an id and password and im unable to login to it, is there any way to login to this system, or should i try reinstall the system.and if so what the procedure to follow... can any one help me out with this problem.
Well... do you know which operating system is installed on this machine?
If it is IRIX (my guess), there are websites out there that will show you how to recover the system from a lost root password. Either that or reinstall the OS.
It is also possible (though not likely in this case) that the system has linux installed on it. If so, well, you are probably even worse off.
If you just want to go about using the system with linux, there are a couple of distributions out there that support the O2, such as Debian and Gentoo.
i have gentoo running on a sgi o2 and this was my first proper install of linux, before that is was a next next next finish to a complie your own everything.
so someone with prior linux knowledge this should be easy :>
thank you very much for the reply.I was so afraid that i cant do it.. now im getting a hope, that i can do it,
and the system is IRIX, and i just need to use the linux part in sio2 OS. should i try running the linux cd to reinstall the system ???. or should i buy a new cds to do that for sio2 system ???
can any one pls explain how to break or open the sio2 system, with an lost password in it, i have been trying for it from many days and i have not understood anything abt it, pls can any one
