All of these threads link to Shockwave petitions. Keeping it alive is not the problem. We ask that users do not bump threads until 24 hours have gone by. We have members from all over the world and many of them will not see the post until it is almost a day old.

Had you searched LQ (something we also ask people to do) you would have seen the existing petition threads and could have replied to one of those to bring it to the top of the list.

Why would I want to do a search on these forums about a shockwave petition if I never even knew about the petitiion in the first place? I posted to this because I hadn't seen it before and I was glad to know about it.

Since you didn't post the thread, why would you think this was aimed at you.

We like people to search the boards to see if someone else has posted the question to save having a huge number of identical threads dotted about the board.

It saves time for those coming after because it means that common problems are normally in the same place (or at least you don't get pages and pages of hits of the same question and answer).

To see how frustrating it could be, I'd suggest a test search for this question: "Which is the best distro?" To keep the results even shorter, limit it to searching titles only.

Yes, I definitly agree with that. I get quite frustrated. I hadn't seen those links before, sorry.
Well... I guess I can say that this is for the new people
I've asked people to sign the petition and they hadn't even heard that it existed... I didn't know about it before, so I thought I'd put it up for a few days so that the word could get around(somemore).

Well...could be because you didn't address the author of the thread directly in your post. Your post appeared to be to everyone.

CBlue - read the posts preceding the one you quote above. It was quite clearly not aimed at everyone.

Regardless, I do not wish to continue this on the form. If you diagree with any action I have taken or need to take this further, I would suggest you do so by email - either to myself or to the site admin.
