First off, let me say I'm new to linux so most likely I won't know what I'm talking about. I'm really, really psyched to do my first install, but know I'll probably run into my share of problems.

I just got my hands on one of those little spacewalker, barebones, mini-pc's from Shuttle. I wanted to load Mandrake on it

A lot of the extras are integrated into the motherboard (firewire, usb, lan, video, audio, etc.) and I'm wondering if anyone has set up one of these machines with linux before, and if they might know of any stumbling blocks to watch out for...

trying to be prepared beforehand, so I guess any info would help.

I am new to Linux and this has been my first install. The S3 Savage does not seem to be the best card but I got it working under Mandrake 8.1 after a bit of tweaking. The sound works well and I have sine upgraded to a Sounblaster Live.

The only thing that seemed like a mountain were the firewire ports. I have not been able to verify if they work.
