shutdown not in path


the shutdown command doesn't seem to be in my root users path. where is this file located?? I feel like an idiot that I can't find it.....not in any of the sbin folders.... Thanks!

which shutdown
or
whereis shutdown
or
locate shutdown | grep bin
?

Also, when you say "not in my root users path" ...
did you login as root, or su? And if you su'ed,
did you 'su -' or just 'su'?

Rather than just changing the user it will also
give you root's environment ;)

Try both, and compare the output of env
