Thumbs down Shutdown -h Rebooting

Hi there

When I issue the command shutdown -h my box, running Mandrake 8.1, looks as though it is shutting down, only to reboot at the very end!?!

I know this just requires a tweak to some file, but can't remember exactly what to do.

The weird thing is this is the default behaviour after installing Mandrake 8.1 on my PC so I am surprised this hasn't caused more people problems.

Thanks in advance!

Typing 'halt' seems to have the same effect as 'shutdown -r' or shutting down via KDE.

The following happens:

The system displays:

'Current state: Halt'

...and processes start shutting down/stopping.

...then the screen displays the basic login screen (non-KDE login screen).

...then the lines appear:

'recovery thread finished'
'md recoveryd(10) flushing signals'
'stopping all md devices'

...then the system starts booting up.

Hope this helps!

Issuing 'init 1' produces the same results as in my previous post, with the following exceptions:

'Current State: single user (system maintenance)'

At the basic login screen, the following is displayed after the 'flushing signals' line:

'INIT: Going signal user'

...and then the following prompt is displayed:
sh-2.05#
