Shutdown and rebooting issues...

I can shutdown and reboot from root, but not under a user. I have to su then reboot in terminal under a user in order to reboot. How can shutdown and reboot under a user in Gnome 2.4?

Install and set up "sudo."

Then you can give your user account the ability to do things like "sudo shutdown -h now".
