short cut to a file in the path

I have a file that is down in the very bottom of the path, but I need to access it quite often. So is there any way that I can set a variable to be equal to that lengthy path, and use it any time I want to access that file?

You could use either:
alias something="/path/to/command"

or:
ln -s /path/to/command /usr/local/bin/something

The first will create a bash alias for the command and the second will create a symlink to the file in your path.
