Sharing desktop with TightVNC

A friend of mine has TightVNC installed.

When I log in, I get a new X session with login screen etc.

My question is:

Is it possible to configure TightVNC in a way, that my friend and I can use the same desktop, e.g. for me remotely showing how a particular application works, while he is watching.

Is it at all possible. If so, how? If not, is there another program for this task?

This might help: http://www.penlug.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/TightVNC - see the section labelled 'Running VNC as your "desktop" ', or specifically, this bit:

To view your desktop from another machine on the network, use:

xvncviewer -shared yourmachine:0.0

I haven't tried this yet, but am considering it.

Hi pnellesen,

I few times I have noticed something called "Desktop Sharing" under the "Internet & NEtwork" tab of the KDE control center. I think the functionality provided there is what you are looking for.

PS: I have never tried, or experiemented with this in anyway. A shot in the dark is always good for something :)
