Setting Up apt-get for SuSE 9.3 x86 - 64

Greetings all.

Currently I'm using SuSE 9.2. When I first set up SuSE I had a friend of mine set up apt-get as well as Synaptic for me. To be honest, I have no idea how it works outside of installing the needed RPMs for apt-get and synaptic. The old RPMs came from here. I would like to update to SuSE 9.3 x86 - 64, which I already have the DVD iso for, yet I do not want to update until I know how to reset up apt-get. Could someone post a copy of their /etc/apt/sources.list file that is already correctly configured?

A short explanation on how apt-get functions would also be helpful if you have time, so that I can update apt-get in the future.

Thanks!
-S

install apt and apt-libs, edit /etc/sources.list, at a terminal, ' sux - ' enter the root password then ' apt update ' , 'apt search gpg-keys' install each listed with 'apt install <keyname>' once thats all done you can install synaptic with 'apt install synaptic' .

you can install synaptic before the keys if you remember to unselect the 'verify package signatures' before installing the gpg-keys.
