Setting up a server...

I am trying to setup a server but not sure which way would be the best to go about it.

I am installing Squid, Squidalyser, Dansguardian and want it to somehow intigrate with Active Directory.. Does anyone have any ideas?

What does the server need to do? I am guessing cache but are you going to setup squid in transparent mode, how are the users going to access it etc...

Also if this is going to be a high use server might I suggest running the Squidalyser from a separate machine as that will have a high cpu load when it is crunching the log files.

The server is going to be a traffic filter/analyser

Thanks heaps

What do you think you need active directory in squid for? If you are going to set up transperant cache machine I can send you my config file to start you off with. Unless you are going to have different settings for different people then I wouldn't do authentication, I would just setup a transperant squid machine as the gateway.

If you are going to be doing filtering you could try something like squidguard, I am in the middle of testing out several add blockers for where I work, ad-zapper was great but it couldn't handle the load I think we are going to go with squidguard.
