Setting up a Mail Server

Hey guys,

I searched these formus and the rest of the internet for a conclusive asnwer, but with no success.
I was wondering if any of you guys can explain to me, or can refer me to some sort of guide that explains how to set up pop3 and smtp mail servers, and preferebly with some sort of name based virtual server support. I have absolutely no idea where to start, or what software to use.
