seq24/lilypond

I just installed seq24 thinking I would be able to play lilypond tunes with it. Is this mixing apples and oranges? Do I need a keyboard to use seq24? I was hoping to just plug a lilypond file into it and listen.
Lost in newbie space....

I don't know what seq24 does, but lilypond files aren't commonly
usable by other apps. What you want to do is to add a
\midi statement to your lilypond source file, and run lilypond
again so it produces a midi file that you can then play.

Cheers,
Tink

midi statement

Thanks for your help. Seq24 is described as a real time midi sequencer. (Plays loops) I think musicians can lay down 8 tracks and actually use it in live concerts, I was hoping to get my tune on one track and build from there. I'm surprised I didn't get any more replies as from what I read seq24 is well liked; ie simple and good. I quess I will start another thread to find out how to midi my lilypond source as I know I have to do that no matter what.
