Sendmail vs Postfix
 

OK maybe I was too long winded in my last thread, so.... What mailer should I use Sendmail or postfix. All I want is it to accept mail for 3 domains which are pointed to my IP. All outgoing mail can be configured to appear to be coming from just one of the domain names if that is easier (looks like it would be). People need to be able to send mail from ANYWHERE (roaming laptop users with changing IPs), so long as the have a linux user account, and same with mail retrieval. Anyone who knows a good FAQ for mailer newbies, or if you have some good .cf files that do this task for you, I should be able to change parameters to make it work on mine (I'm only somewhat of a noob).
I have setup postfix with SuSE 9.0 and it sent mail alright, a little too well though as there was no user auth. It just relayed everything and we all know what we think of those mailers. I also could not retrieve via POP or IMAP and messages from my server. A few years back and used Redhat which installed Sendmail. This one was all backwards from what I experienced with SuSE. I could retrieve my mail fine from any client but could not send anything not generated on the localhost. My answer to that was installing Squirellmail which is a http webmail program and that made all emails generated locally and would send with no problem. This is not an option though as this company likes OL2000 for their mail client. I only have about 10 clients or users that need to use this server so a database isn't really needed but I will set one up if it make a difference. So which mailer do I use and can you include some default security loopholes I need to fix, etc. so only users with an account can access this system.

I use Sendmail. It is pretty easy to configure with webmin. You may want to give that a shot.

Was trying to put as few servers as possible so no Webmin.

Do you mean services or servers?

Both, I want the bare minimum running. Apache, cron and sendmail/postfix
