sendmail to send all email to another mail server

I am running Red Hat ES 4.0 and want to configure sendmail (mail or mailx) to send all email for unknown users to my other email server without appending the domain name.
Ex: user name is joeuser on the linux box my application can send the email to joeuser, but without an alias of joeuser@mydomain.com it will remain on the local unix box. I would like to be able to have my application send an email to joeuser and not have to set up an alias for all users. Is there a way to configure all emails without the "@mydomain.com" to automatically be forwarded to my mail server without the "@mydomain.com".

Thanks for any help.

Dennis

i'm not sure if I understand what you are trying to do. Do you want to forward all mail to another mail server, but without aliasing the addresses as whatever@yourdomain.com?

Try using the smart host option

Hi,
It is a bit confusing but you can make alias for emails with or without domain prefix by both ways i.e. user alias or email alias. which one you would like to do?
thanks
