Sendmail - Suse 8.1
 

Hello all,

I have a test box here running Sendmail. It's been working for a while but today, sendmail has been flaking with me. Currently, I cannot telnet in to the box on port 25. Every 10-15 minutes, it will work for a minute and then stop working.
If I log on to the server when it's working, I tried a telnet localhost 25 and the system responded. It's down right now and when I attempted the same command, I get connection refused.

Any ideas where I should start and how I can fix this? Network communication is not an issue b/c i've been vnc'd on it for a while now.

I also tried a netstat -natp and I do not see the sendmail service listening on port 25.

I ran /etc/init.d/sendmail start, it shows "done" in green. I re-issued the netstat command and it's still not showing up

Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas?
