ive installed send mail everything is fine it work perfectly ive got pop to work as well the only problem is ifi try to use the mail server to send mail from my windows box it doesnt work?
its keeps throwin back errors
ive got the acces file so that the static ip from my windows box is in there to replay but it still dont work??
By default sendmail in RH7.3 is bound to 127.0.0.1
Try changing this line in /etc/sendmail.conf file to
O DaemonPortOptions=Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA
Something like,
O DaemonPortOptions=Port=smtp,Addr=Ypur_Real_ip, Name=MTA
nope it still doesnt work m8 ? i from what i read it said just comment that lineout and u should be ale to use the mail server aslong as u place the ip or host name in access file which i have done and i have also created the databse file for it .?
any ideas ?
ps i didnt change the .f file in /etc i changed the /etc/mail/sendmail/mc then vread the sendmail.cf file using the m4 command is this still ok?
telnet host.mydomain.com 110 it allow me to connect to pop
but when i do
telnet host.mydomain.com 25 to connect to smtp it doesnt allow it ? why ? i have no firewall setup at the moment so that i know that its no that causing the problem.
If you've got errors why don't you post 'em, also look in the logs for your POP3 daemon and/or (/usr/adm|/var/log)/messages.
*On DeadRat you don't use M4 if you're using Linuxconf, then you've gotta use "mailconf --generate-conf" or something like that because else it'll nag on forever about rebuilding /etc/sendmail.cf because the md5sum for it is in /etc/linuxconf.conf
