selling technology services - linux sales/CRM software?
hi,
I justed started a home based business to design software and hardware for a particular industry, and since I come from a technical background I'm learning on the marketing and sales side of things right now ( I should have known more about this before I started ... ). I'm now looking for a good and simple linux software I can install on my local apache / php / mysql server (Arch linux distro) that will keep all my contacts in it and will help me keep track of potential clients, leads, suppliers, etc. Right now I'm using microsoft outlook but I want something I can access from any workstation in my office. I don't want anything over complicated. when I wanted to set up my website I thought Mambo CMS would be great for managing my website, but I don't have the time or energy right now to learn and manage complex systems. I want something simple that can grow with me. Of course I could just write something myself in PHP but maybe somebody can point me to something that will do the job. Thanks! Bert |
I'm interested in an answer too
Hi Bert, I'd be interested to see what people have to say - I'm looking for something exactly similar to this as well.
I've been getting along in the meantime using mediawiki. I use the wiki simply like a notepad and jot down information following meetings; client details, project plans, relationships etc. The great benefit of mediawiki is being able to put each page into categories and using the 'what links here' functions to let me cross reference clients with other companies etc. It's only a stop-gap measure, just slightly better than writing the information down, but it's keeping me working until I find something like the application you're looking for. |

I searched the forums and came across vTiger (http://www.vtiger.com/index.html). not sure if this is what i need, I'll try installing it and see if it's fast enough and simple to use. how did you import contacts from outlook or some other email client into mediawiki? thanks, bert |
