Question Seamonkey Install Woes - Invalid Pointer

Hi all, I have always been able to solve my problems by searching the net for answers and having a lot of patience! This is my first post here.

This one I have not been able to fix, in truth I have no idea what the error even means. I am not the most experianced Linux user, but it is all I use so I have learnt a few things over the last year out of necessity.

Seamonkey1.0.6, downloaded and created the directory in /usr/local/seamonkey1.0.6 moved the downloaded file in there and attempted to run the installer. This is as far as I got.

Quote:
[me@localhost seamonkey-installer]$ ./seamonkey-installer
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x0817ba50 ***
./seamonkey-installer: line 72: 6485 Aborted "./${BINNAME}-bin" ${1+"$@"}
Using Mandriva and KDE 3.4 at the moment.

I have searched for the answer here and other sites and could only find a few references to the error in different languages, but I do apologise if this has been answered beforehand and I was unable to find it.

It may be beyond me to fix it but even an explanation of the problem would be of interest.

Thanks and Cheers!

From what little I have been able to find out is it simply a case of my distro being too out of date? I have been meaning to try the latest suse out, will using a newer distro fix the problem anyway?

I need to sleep, but I will check back tomorrow.

Thanks again.
