Seamonkey - Install script not found
 

I'm trying to install extensions in SeaMonkey 1.0.1 but I always get "install script not found" for any I try. Does anybody know what this is about? SeaMonkey, otherwise, works great for me as a browser and I like the integrated e-mail but there are a few extensions I'd like to add. I'm a little reluctant to try installing SeaMonkey on top of itself and I don't want to uninstall and reinstall it and have to set up my e-mail and bookmark profiles again if I can avoid it. Nor does that seem as elegant as it would be to simply provide the "install script". Any assistance would be appreciated.

Uninstalling SeaMonkey will not damage your profile information, which is storred in a separate location.

What do you mean "install script not found"? I've never had any problems installing SeaMonkey using the normal installer. Can you give more details of what you tried and what happened?

You are totally correct about the profiles. I'd forgotten. I don't think there is anything wrong with the Sea Monkey install itself. Sorry for not making myself clear on the other point. I have a problem when I try to install extensions. The extensions download but when I click "install" I get the "install script not found" window.
Maybe extensions are not available for SeaMonkey but somewhere I got the idea that the Mozilla extensions should work. Do you have any extensions successfully installed in SeaMonkey? Maybe I'm trying to install extensions that simply don't work with SeaMonkey.

First of all, I misread your post. I thought you were getting this error when trying to install SeaMonkey itself... My mistake.

Most extensions written for the Mozilla suite should work in SeaMonkey. The unofficial site seamonkey.be has a quite extensive list of extensions that are known to work with SeaMonkey.

I don't know if this is any help, but were you trying to install extensions written for Firefox? If you were then that could cause problems. Look for a version written for SeaMonkey (or the Mozilla suite, or Mozilla 1.x).
