script a kernel recompile

Does make menuconifg do anything other than make a .config file???

you see....

Im trying write a kickstart script for a recompile but it keeps on falling over.

I want to cp a previous .config (will be doing numerous recompiles on the same hardware configuration) file however when i run make dep, it quickly stuffs up.

there is no problem when make menuconfig is run which has me stumped as i am using the same .config file it creates.

I'm doing pretty much the same kind of thing. I've got several different computers and I've saved .config files for each. I've got a script that basically does: make mrproper; cp ../<comp>.config .config; make oldconfig; make bzImage; make modules; make modules_install;

thanks dude it good to know that it works , i will just keep trying.

It sounds like I missed the oldconfig step before make dep. I will see how that goes
