Talking Screen Size MandrakeMove, Freezup SUSELive9, What Disto to use if any???

Just ran MandrakeMove live CD that I downloaded to try out.
How do I make the Display the size of my laptop screen???
Its just a little box right now in the middle of my screen, I have a wide screen
HP 17" and all I see is a little box about 5"x 5"....
Also trying SUSE 9 LIve eval but it freezes up when it gets to loading printer, so I cant even see how that works cause I have to reboot and it does the same every time.
Whats the best version to try??
Thank you for any help
Michael

knoppix is supposed to be very good and apparently will detect all your hardware automatically, it can also be run from a cd and is free to download. You might wanna try slackware but it might be a bit full on for a beginner (just learning how to use it myself, and its a pretty steep learning curve)

as for getting your screen set up properly in mandrakemove, I know what's wrong but having never used mandrakemove (ive used mandrake but not mandrakemove) I can't be sure if this'll fix it. You could either try typing xf86config in a console window (like a dos prompt) or mandrake move might have a control center (similar to mandrake) in which you should be able to do this (its probably easier to do it using the control center), basically it sounds like it hasn't configured your monitor and/or resolution properly but if you use the control center tools you should be able to work out what's going on
