Screen resolution incorrect when starting up with disconnected monitor
Hi,
I'm running Ubuntu (Hardy) as a media centre, connected to a 42" screen that eats power even when off, so I leave it switched off at the wall when not using it.
However, if the media centre has turned on to record a programme and the TV is off at the wall, it looks like Xorg can't detect the monitor so uses a very low resolution, despite 1920x1080 being specified in xorg.conf.
Is there any way to prevent the autodetection of a monitor and just force xorg to use the specified resolution, as I don't really want to have to restart X if I turn the TV on after the PC has booted up.
I've googled and searched these forums, but no joy - sorry if this has been asked before.
Thanks,
Ed
