Screem syntax highlighting not working

I installed Screem (screem-0.8.2-1.fr.i386.rpm) on my Redhat 9 (Gnome) and I don't see any syntax highlighting. There's nothing in the Preferences windows except for a "Syntax highlighting" checkbox.
I found something about syntax files, so I downloaded some (there were none on my system) and copied them to ~/.screem/syntax, but nothing happened.
Anybody can help?
