Scan documents & make writeable

My scanner actually works in debian, but I would like to scan documents as templates or writeable I've heard of OCR software, is there any that are available to Open Office & Libre Office.

There are a few open sourced OCR programs for linux. You can't just scan directly to OO exactly and be able to edit. All OCR programs are subject to the quality of the image and the type of fonts. Originally they made special OCR wheels for typewriters to then use for scanner. Thinks like kerning and handwritten letters are difficult. Odd proportioned fonts are also difficult.

Thank you both for your input, I have contracts & proposals to write out & it's irritating to have to write them out in ink & we all know that ink is not forgiving, especially, with my handwriting.
I saw 3 of them readily available thru synaptic so I'm going to test them now.
