To the fluxbox users:

I'm want to experiment with different windows manager, so I install Fluxbox, I'm so cautivated by the customization you can do in this environment. I just want to jump in and start customizing but here is where I get stumble. Because I don't know what to do to achieve those nice graphics like this one or this one I see in the Fluxbox website.

I ask to my self if a need to be a Guru in C++ to be able to use Fluxbox, because I can't seem to understand any of the instruction I find in the internet that are related to Fluxbox. I need some guidance ( like a tutorial ) on how to deal with Fluxbox and his configuration. I think you have to install all the applications you want to use in Fluxbox using my regular KDE enviroment, But I don't know how to make them available in Fluxbox. Also I notice that a lot of the stuff some other people are using in Fluxbox , they seem to created them and placed them in ~/.fluxbox/ directory. Help please cause I've been for the last two weeks trying to accomplish something in Fluxbox with no success.

The extra things you see in these screenshots are additional applications (such as gDesklets), and not customizations of Fluxbox itself.
The transparent terminal is a feature built into Eterm and aterm.
Transparent menu and rounded corners are part of development Fluxbox, and not available in stable....menu transparency can be changed from the menu itself; rounded corners are most likely set in either fluxbox/init or in the style files, though I've never used this feature to know for sure.

Ok, so I need to install this applications using my KDE environment, then how can I access them from Fluxbox. When I go to Fluxbox is so plain. I right click on the desktop and little windows open with a lot of features that I don't know how to utilize them.

gDesklets seems to be a Gnome thing, as the g and the 'libgtop' indicate. So you need to download and install that. If you've already got it, you need to export a PKG_CONFIG_PATH that points to its .pc file.

As far as the right-click menu, it's mostly self-explanatory but the flux man page is good. If flux is too bare for you, you could try other stuff like dockapps that may not have gnome deps or try a different wm, I guess. I'm not even sure what gDesklets are. Aren't they like system monitors and doohickeys? Gkrellm is a great system monitor and can have doohickeys.

I Finlay was able to install gdesklets using URPMI and everything start working fine since. I was successful installing some Desklets in KDE like Goodweather, etc. Now I want this Desklets to show up when I run Fluxbox, How do I do that ? . I have a startup file created in ( ~/.fluxbox/ ) directroy, but my other question is What you need to edit in the " init " file located in ~/.fluxbox/ to tell fluxbox to use your startup file, so I can build all my configuration in that file.

I don't use flux anymore so I'm not sure, but I think flux just automatically searches for it. There are lines like:

session.menuFile: ~/.fluxbox/menu

so you might need

session.startupFile: ~/.fluxbox/startup

but I don't know. I'd think that if it wasn't working, it was just not executable, so chmod'ing it should do. You can also use ~/.xinitrc unless you use a ?dm in which case it'd be .xsession or whatever ?dm's use.

Downloads the dependencies if you dont have them.

This usually helps:
