saving settings after log out

My screen size on my Suse 9.1 is too small for my eyes (1024x768) and I have to change it to 800x600 every time I log it, for some reason it doesn't remember my preference after I shut down. How do I change it so it remembers my screen size?

In your X configuration, there are many "Modelines". The first resolution listed on the line is the default. Set this to 800x600 and it should be fine.
