Saving partial spreadsheet data as html

What I'm trying to accomplish is to save just a portion of a spreadsheet, via highlighting or otherwise specifying a range of data, as html. In Excel I can just hightlight the section, choose save as web page, choose selection instead of entire workbook and click save.

Is there any way to accomplish this running Linux? Using OpenOffice, Kspread, Gnumeric I can save the entire worksheet as one big html file, but this isn't what I need. I need to just save a small portion of one sheet. I would just copy and paste the data into an editor, but then I lose all the formatting for the column widths.

Anyway, is there some easy way I am missing or another application that could accomplish this feat? I keep thinking there must be a way, but I sure can't seem to find it.

I just tried this using OpenOffice and saw no problem.

I started OpenOffice, created a spreadsheet, entered some data, copied the data, created a html document, then did a paste special - HTML.

The spreadsheet data was pasted as a HTML formatted table.
