Saving nmap scan LIVE ... ?

I know its possible but i don't remember the command i used.
I used the tee and grep command but this was not live saving i might as well used the nmap option to save it to a file but i need to do a ctrl+c command sometimes to break the scan and have everything that it DID scan in a text file. when i use the ctrl c command the tee and grep don't save for some reason...
