same old question:How do you get flash to run on firefox-2.0-x86_64

I have tried and tried and tried some more to figure out how to run flash plugin on firefox 2.0 on a x86_64 system and it has boggled me. I have the flash 9 release installed but it dont work.

Used to be you install the flash plugin and creats a few links. Thats not working this time. So I ask of people in the world to save me from tossing this damn box out the window. If anyone out there has any ideas or even may know how to do so please let me know. :]

Thanx for your time.

Note this for future reference... ALL the plugins and extensions for Firefox are 32 bit. They will NOT run on 64 bit Firefox.

I had this problem on my Fedora Core installation. The solution is to remove your 64 bit FF 2.0 and install the 32 bit FF 2.0. After which, you can install all the plugins and extensions and they will work fine.

Luck!

Yep, just one of many reason to stick with 32bit.

I agree. 64 bit computing is just not ready-for-prime-time, I don't think.

Another way to get flash working on x86_64 is to change the
MOZ_ARCH=$(uname -m)
in /usr/bin/firefox to
MOZ_ARCH=i386
This will select the 32 bit version of firefox on startup.

Hi,
Try out the following link:
http://www.linuxheadquarters.com/how.../flash64.shtml

I use a Ubuntu 6.10 64 bit OS on an AMD 64 bit. I picked up nspluginwrapper and the other packages mentioned in the link above from an unofficial Ubuntu repsoitory and have got flash player working on my 64 bit system.
