I have done some searching and couldn't find an answer as to why when I move a file larger than 1GB to a samba share from a XP machine with NTFS, I can only transfer 1GB. The worst part is if I move the file, rather than copy it, it deletes the source after the copy thinking the transfer completed when in fact it didn't. Is this an issue with samba, NTFS (I thought the max for NTFS was 4GB?), or perhaps my GUI file manager? I have not tried using the command line for a file larger than 1GB yet due to the fact that my last large file was deleted in a move operation to samba...I will try when I have another though.

If you have a 2.4 kernel, I know there is a (nasty and silent) bug in r/w file size for large files on vfat. Maybe this also applies to smbfs. Be sure to update to a 2.6 or a 2.4.24+

The problem existed with 2.4.24 as well...I haven't tried 2.4.25 yet. Thanks for the help.
