samba transfer rate

I've seen similar problems to what i'm going to ask, but haven't found one quite like it, so sorry if this has been answered before...

I'm having speed issues between my xp box and my linux box using samba. Transfer speed from xpbox to linuxbox is quite fast, but from linuxbox to xpbox is very very slow. It takes 5 minutes for 700meg file xp->linux, but 125 minutes the other way.

Anyone know what this could be?

i say just mount that drive by add a line to /etc/fstab and the filesystem was smbfs.
it used that to straight out the problem. works for me!

Very strange...

The setup I've been using is mapping my samba shares(which are all on the linux box) on my xp box. This is where i noticed that the speed between linux->xp was very slow, but not other way around.

This morning i went out and mounted my xp disk onto the linux box's file system. Transfer rates both way are great.

Does that make since to anybody? I will keep working on it and post what I find...
