Samba share password problem

I have access to the shared files on my windows laptop from my Ubuntu 14.04 laptop using Samba but not the other way around. When I try to see the shared folders in my Ubuntu box (either from File Manager -> Network on the Ubuntu box or from my Windows box) it asks for a password but is not happy with what I offer.

I've done this:

bob@bob-K55A:~$ sudo smbpasswd bob
New SMB password:~~~~~~~
Retype new SMB password:~~~~~~~
no errors reported.

In my samba config I have:
[bob]
path = /home/bob
available = yes
valid users = bob
read only = no
browseable = yes
public = yes
writable = yes

Might have to see your entire smb.conf file (less comments).

Typically the default configuration file has [homes] which automatically creates a home share for all users so a specific share may not be necessary.

Lets try:

Quote:
[bob]
path = /home/bob
browseable = yes
writable = yes
Be sure to restart samba.

Usually there is a [homes] section in smb.conf, can you privide the entries from yours?
