;        password server = None
;        guest ok = yes
        netbios name = Samba

;time server = yes

;hosts allow = 192.168. 127.
;log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log

;socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192

[Downloads]
        comment = Backup
        path = /mnt/hdb1
        browseable = yes
        writeable = yes
;        writeable = yes

[mp3]
comment = Share for John and Sam
path = /mnt/hdb1/mp3

try looking in /var/log/samba to see what info u may get from there. Also u can try
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba...k/ch03_01.html
which will give u some help on setting passwords on your windoze machine for samba :-)

global security setting

in the [Global] settings, add this line:

security = share

Restart Samba and browse to the folder. It should just open now, without a password prompt.

Worked for me, hope it works for you!
