samba problems

hi, i have never had much luck with samba. i can normally get it working but it takes quite alot of effort (for some reason!) but this time i cant seem to make it work. i have a FreeBSD 5.2 server and i samba 2.28 and i cant make it work. it shows up in network neighbourhood but i get this pop-up error box
Quote:
\\Oasis is not available
the network path was not found
i have tried almost every configuration possibalty but it will not work. oh just for the record i can access other machines. i could be wrong but i have come to the conclusion that it is not going wrong because of samba but some other setting somewhere.

can anyone help me? help would be greatly apricated
thanks in advance

first of all... would you mind posting your config file up here so we can trouble shoot it?

also... 2.28 is a pretty old version i think. Maybe not but I know that the latest release is 3.0.2 so... It might help you to upgrade, especially if you're using windoze XP boxes...

thanks

i think the problem is with iptables, that the built in firewall has blocked them but i cant access iptables of any firewall settings.

this is so anoying, i always have stoopid problems with samba. how would i access the firewall settings in freebsd, that has to be the problem because when i right click on the server from windows network neighbourhood and goto propertys it says "the server is not available on the network" even though it shows up in network neighbourhood! does anyone know how i can fix this problem ? i have tried everything i can think of!
