Samba password doesn't work when accessing Linux shares from W2K
I have set up shares on the windows 2000 and RedHat 9 sides of my network, and I can access the windows shares from linux, and I can SEE the linux shares from Nertwork Neighborhood, but when I click on the Linux share I get a "Incorrect Password or unknown Username for \\Linux\sharename" then there's a "Connect As:" and "Password:" box. My Windows login and password are identical and I have also set up an identical samba passwd for the same username. I'M SOOOOO CLOSE TO GETTING THIS!!!!!!!

the username and password HAVE to be the same for both machines IE:
login to w2kbox with Joe and password the samba username and password have to be Joe and password |
Have you setup Samba to use encrypted passwords?
And what do the Samba logs say when you get the error on the Windows machine? |
I have not checked any logs yet -- I will try that as soon as I get a chance.
I can tell you, however, that all related logins and passwords are identical: Linux computer login and password, samba login and password, and Windows login and password. |
... and passwords are set up for encryption.
