samba login
 

whenevr i try to login to my server via samba it prompts me for a username and password which nothing i put in works, but i dont want it to even sk me one anyone know how to fix this? the server im logging into is redhat 9 while the workstation is win XP

you have a samba password database setup? You have a smbpasswd file somewhere (or you should anyway) like /etc/samba/private. You run the smbpasswd command to change the password for a user.

but what if i dont want to have a samba password?

also when i try to login from a linux machine to a windows machine it prompts for a password when i have no password setup for the windows machine
